This is the basics to start running a One Hour One Life client or server.

1. Setting up a Linux operating system

Firstly you will need a Linux distribution operating system, this can be ran locally or by a virtual private server. If you have never used Linux before and have space on your computer I suggest you download Ubuntu (A popular Linux distribution) you are able to install Linux along side a Windows install, this is called Dual booting.

If you have no space or have experience in Linux before I would suggest a VPS host, The host I use is called Digital Ocean by following the signup link you will receive $50 to use within 30 days which will give you time to test and experiment with the service and hosting your One Hour One Life server.

2. Installing essential package

You will need to install a few packages via terminal to compile the files use:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install git g++ imagemagick xclip libsdl1.2-dev libglu1-mesa-dev libgl1-mesa-dev
3. Installing the essential files

One Hour One Life is made up of 3 sections, minorGems, OneLife and OneLifeData7 you will need To download all of these, there are two options you can download straight from github via browser or from the terminal, you will need to create a folder where you wish to keep the files lets call it "OHOL" you can do this in terminal with:

Code: Select all

mkdir OHOL
To open the folder use:

Code: Select all

cd OHOL
After this you will need to download the 3 sections, minorGems, OneLife, OneLifeData7 use:
